Researchers, teachers, supervisors, project leaders, journal editors, and referees in HET face specific challenges: HET is a complex subject, requiring multiple communication channels to remain open and updated. While inherently transdisciplinary, it has unparalleled special relations to the field that constitutes its subject.
The complex meta-dynamics of fields such as Public Economics illustrate such challenges. Co-evolutionary dynamics include developments in multiple spheres (different strands of the discipline, universities, think tanks, interest groups, the media, and larger-scale developments of societies, economies, states, and the international system). HET’s constitution should accommodate a plurality of methods and approaches adapted to such dynamics.
